Fiona Anderson is President of the IOA and she says, “We are thrilled to see just how many people have booked onto the summit, and look forward to welcoming those who are regulars as well as all those booking for the first time. If you are thinking about joining us, do act to book your place soon as places are going fast. There is still the option to pay in three easy instalments to secure your place. Don’t miss out!”
Since the last programme update, it has been announced that Alireza Parandian will be joining the IOA summit as a speaker. Alireza Parandian leads the global business strategy for additive-manufactured wearables at Materialise.
Opticians Association of Canada Executive Director Robert Dalton CAE LO has announced the title for his talk: ‘I see you: Why See me?’ In a time when opticians are under increasing scrutiny in these days of fast and free information sharing, they need to maintain the trust of the public and confidence in their own skills. Robert says, “I will be speaking on the concept of Professional Judgement. It will be a positive and upbeat presentation aimed at giving Opticians the self-awareness tools and confidence to tackle their own professional identity issues going forward in the years ahead.”
Undecided about attending? Clive Marchant, President of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians shares his experiences of his first IOA Summit here: “We are excited to be attending the 2020 IOA Summit in Bangkok. We attended our first summit two years ago in the UK and were overwhelmed by the warm welcome we received from the many delegates from across the globe. It will be good to re unite with friends and colleagues and meet many more opticians from many countries to exchange views and understand how the world of optics varies across the world but with one common goal, to provide our patients with the best visual solutions.
Clive continues, “The Bangkok agenda has something for all: education, factory tour, a day at the SILMO trade fair, social events, tours and the final evening gala dinner will be at The Banyan Tree Vertigo open air roof top restaurant. We have been fortunate to visit Vertigo and can honestly say it’s breath-taking, 61 floors up and open air giving a amazing panoramic view of Bangkok twinkling below. Combined with the rest of the Summit this is an experience not to be missed.”
