USE OF TITLES IN THE WORKPLACE: The ADONZ recommends that all enrolled students use one of the following titles in the workplace: Student Dispensing Optician or Trainee Dispensing Optician rather than any other title. Other titles can be misleading and you must ensure the public is not confused as to your status. You must not use a title that infers you have more experience than what you have.
FBDO(O/s) Qualification (ABDO – UK) – Extension Course
- ABDO distance learning – FBDO o/s (Level 6) qualificationThe Level 6 FBDO (o/s) course is run by distance learning through ABDO College. It is three years of weekly assignments sent online to a personal tutor via Moodle.For ANZ students only, there is a block release offered twice a year in Melbourne for some face to face tuition to complement the online learning. Exams are a mixture of theory, practical and submissions of posters and assignments.The theory and practical is currently in Melbourne but candidates are free to travel to Malaysia or UK if they wish. OptiBlocks
OptiBlocks Education Committee is a committee dedicated to Student education within ADONZ. It was created to help liaise with our education providers. Education is delivered via a Distance Learning Course for trainee dispensing opticians and which also incorporates workshop blocks to facilitate hands on learning, giving students an opportunity to consolidate their theoretical studies with practical laboratory sessions and lectures. They work closely with current education provider ACOD. Students are able to qualify for New Zealand registration, and for various honours qualifications, and seek to promote and further the interests of qualified dispensing opticians.
